Building a National Job Hub: Digital Solutions for Inclusive Employment

In a major step toward improving access to employment and transparency in recruitment, Veynuus was contracted by IOM Somalia to work with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MOLSA) to develop a national job portal. The platform aims to become Somalia’s central hub for all government job announcements, youth opportunities, and contract postings.

But beyond digital infrastructure, the portal was shaped through consultation and inclusion—ensuring that both job seekers and employers were at the center of its design.

What We Delivered

Veynuus combined technical delivery with field-informed insight, working across government, youth, and private sector stakeholders to ensure the platform is inclusive and fit-for-purpose.

Developed a centralized, user-friendly job portal for all government vacancies and tenders
Integrated tools to track skills gaps between job listings and applicant profiles
Conducted youth consultations to ensure accessibility and relevance for young job seekers
Facilitated private sector consultations to ensure relevance and market uptake
Created a space for cross-government coordination on employment
Developed a user-friendly interface for applicants, employers, and administrators
This wasn’t just a technical product—it was a response to a national challenge. The portal is now a tool for economic inclusion, transparency, and policy alignment.

A Collaborative Partnership for Greater Impact

This initiative was delivered in close collaboration with Zifala Technologies, a Somali tech company with strong experience in systems development. Zifala led on the backend development and infrastructure, while Veynuus focused on project management, user research, content design, and stakeholder coordination. Together, we built a solution that’s both technically sound and socially responsive.

Closing the Gap Between Skills, Opportunities, and Access

Somalia’s labor market is fragmented, and youth often find themselves disconnected from employment pathways. Meanwhile, institutions struggle to understand skills mismatches and future workforce demands. The portal directly addresses these issues by:

  • Centralizing all public sector employment opportunities

  • Creating visibility into skills mismatches and job trends

  • Supporting public-private dialogue on labor needs

  • Empowering data-informed policy decisions

From Vision to Action: A Platform for the Future

With leadership from MOLSA and support from IOM Somalia, the new job portal reflects Somalia’s commitment to digitized governance, inclusive growth, and youth empowerment. This is not only a platform—it’s a shift toward better systems thinking, smarter workforce planning, and stronger public trust.
